Per ogni numero è possibile sottomettere:
– Articoli liberi su temi di interesse per la rivista o articoli in risposta a call for papers
– Commenti ai documenti di etica e bioetica che sono stati o che saranno pubblicati
– Recensioni di volumi pubblicati nei 12 mesi precedenti alla pubblicazione della rivista
La rivista accetta contributi in lingua italiana e inglese.

I testi devono essere inediti e non devono essere già sottomessi ad altre riviste scientifiche.
Per sottomettere un articolo occorre inviare:
- un file in formato Word, privo di ogni riferimento agli autori, di minimo 10.000 e massimo 25.000 battute (inclusi spazi, note e bibliografia);
- un secondo file Word separato contenente:
(a) i nominativi degli autori
(b) l’affiliazione di ciascun autore
(c) l’indirizzo e-mail dell’autore corrispondente
(d) il titolo dell’articolo in italiano e in inglese
(e) un abstract dell’articolo di massimo 150 parole in italiano e in inglese

Stile redazionale
Il tipo di carattere da utilizzarsi è il seguente: Times New Roman 12, con interlinea singola.
Le note vanno inserite a fine testo (note di chiusura) e numerate con numeri arabi (1, 2, 3…).
I titoli devono essere brevi e specifici per facilitarne il reperimento nelle banche dati.
I titoli di paragrafi e dei sotto-paragrafi devono essere ordinati utilizzando i numeri arabi, secondo una numerazione progressiva.
Riferimenti bibliografici
Il sistema di riferimento della rivista per le citazioni bibliografiche è lo stile Chicago A (sistema note-bibliografia). A ogni citazione nel testo, sia essa letterale o parafrasata, deve corrispondere una nota (a fine testo), completa di ogni riferimento bibliografico. La bibliografia finale viene omessa.

Citazioni
Le citazioni degli autori nei testi devono essere ricomprese tra parentesi e recano l’anno di pubblicazione del testo/volume al quale ci si riferisce (Cognome, anno). Quest’ultimo deve essere presente in bibliografia.

– Riferimento interno al testo: Engelhardt (1991) e Aron et al. (2019)
Le citazioni letterali devono essere comprese tra virgolette basse («…»). La citazione letterale è seguita dall’autore secondo il seguente schema: (Cognome, anno: pagina). Il testo da cui è tratta la citazione deve essere presente in Bibliografia.
Le citazioni che superano le tre righe devono essere inserite in un paragrafo separato, seguite anch’esse dal riferimento all’autore secondo lo schema (Cognome, anno: pagina).
Indicazioni generali di stile
Al fine di conferire a ogni numero una certa uniformità stilistica, si prega di:
– iniziare voci di punti elenco con lettera minuscola e terminare con punto e virgola;
– non utilizzare virgolette né corsivi nei titoli dei contributi o dei paragrafi;
– utilizzare virgolette doppie per i titoli delle opere citate o dei documenti all’interno dei testi (es. .. Sulla scia del suo celebre saggio del 1992, “La fine della storia e l’ultimo uomo”, di cui fin dall’introduzione …)
– utilizzare le virgolette singole per enfatizzare un concetto e non utilizzare i corsivi (es. ‘libertà’).
Immagini e link
Eventuali immagini, tabelle o grafici devono essere inviati in formato JPG/JPEG o PDF e devono avere una risoluzione minima di 300 dpi.
I link indicati nei testi sono da intendersi come accessibili alla data di pubblicazione del volume.
Nella bibliografia occorre semplificare i link più lunghi di 50 caratteri attraverso il servizio https://bitly.com/.

Decisioni in merito alla pubblicazione
Il Direttore è responsabile per le decisioni relative alla pubblicazione dei manoscritti sottomessi alla rivista.
Il Direttore è responsabile per le decisioni che riguardano eventuali casi di diffamazione, violazione del copyright e plagio.
Equità
Il Direttore, il Capo Redattore, i Redattori e i revisori incaricati valutano sempre i manoscritti in base al loro contenuto intellettuale senza discriminazioni di razza/etnia, genere, orientamento sessuale, credo religioso, cittadinanza, o credo politico.
Confidenzialità
Il Direttore, il Capo Redattore e i Redattori hanno il dovere di non rivelare alcuna informazione riguardo ai manoscritti che sono stati sottomessi alla rivista a persone che non siano l’autore responsabile della corrispondenza (corresponding author), i revisori e i potenziali revisori, altre persone coinvolte nell’editing e l’editore, laddove appropriato.
Conflitti di interesse
Il materiale non pubblicato contenuto in un manoscritto che è stato sottomesso alla rivista non può essere usato dal Direttore, dal Capo Redattore e dai Redattori per scopi di ricerca senza il consenso esplicito dell’autore.
Accesso ai contributi
I contributi accettati da The Future of Science and Ethics sono resi disponibili ad accesso libero e senza restrizioni, al fine di promuovere la politica dell’accesso aperto (open-access). I contributi sono disponibili sul sito della rivista e possono essere utilizzati a scopi scientifici, a condizione che sia citata la fonte della prima pubblicazione del manoscritto su The Future of Science and Ethics.
Doveri dei revisori
Revisione partitaria (Peer Review)
I testi degli articoli sottomessi alla rivista sono sottoposti a revisione paritaria anonima in doppio cieco (Double Blind Peer Review). Fanno eccezione i testi degli articoli delle sezioni “Prospettive”, usualmente richiesti su invito, e delle sezioni “Documenti” e “Recensioni”.
I file Word anonimizzati e privi di eventuali riferimenti agli autori vengono inviati a due revisori anonimi individuati tra esperti esterni specialisti della materia in valutazione o, in alcuni casi, tra i componenti del Comitato Scientifico della rivista. Non possono essere affidate revisioni di singoli articoli né a componenti del Comitato di Direzione né a componenti del Comitato Editoriale della rivista.
La revisione richiede circa 4 settimane dalla data di ricezione del manoscritto. Nel caso in cui siano richieste revisioni (minime o sostanziali), il testo deve essere corretto evidenziando le parti modificate, e quindi ri-sottomesso alla redazione nei tempi richiesti, accompagnato da una breve lettera di risposta ai Revisori. In caso di giudizi significativamente discordanti tra i revisori, la redazione si riserva di chiedere un terzo parere e di prolungare il processo di revisione di ulteriori 2 settimane.
Celerità
Qualsiasi revisore che ritenga di non essere qualificato per svolgere la revisione del manoscritto che gli è stato assegnato, o di non poter terminare tale revisione entro i tempi richiesti e comunque entro un tempo considerato ragionevole, deve subito notificare tali aspetti al Direttore e quindi rinunciare a prendere parte al processo di revisione paritaria.
Confidenzialità
Qualsiasi manoscritto ricevuto per la revisione paritaria deve essere considerato come un documento confidenziale. Come tale non deve essere mostrato o discusso con altri se non nei casi autorizzati dal Direttore della rivista.
Standard di oggettività
Le revisioni devono essere condotte in modo obiettivo. Pertanto, ogni critica a livello personale indirizzata agli autori è inaccettabile. I Revisori devono esprimere le loro opinioni e i loro giudizi in modo chiaro portando a supporto degli argomenti appropriati, all’unico scopo di contribuire a una discussione scientifica finalizzata al miglioramento del manoscritto che è stato sottomesso. È stata predisposta una scheda di valutazione per guidare i Revisori nel processo di valutazione.
Originalità e plagio
Un revisore deve segnalare all’attenzione del Direttore ogni similarità sostanziale o sovrapposizione tra il manoscritto attualmente sottomesso e altri lavori già pubblicati di cui è a conoscenza.
Conflitti di interesse
Informazioni privilegiate o idee ottenute tramite il processo di revisione paritaria devono essere mantenute confidenziali e non essere usate per vantaggio personale. I Revisori non devono accettare di leggere e dare il proprio parere su manoscritti rispetto ai quali potrebbero avere dei conflitti di interesse derivanti da altri rapporti con gli autori, compagnie, imprese o altre istituzioni connesse ai manoscritti.
Doveri degli autori
Contenuti
Gli autori di un manoscritto che riguardi una ricerca originale devono presentare una descrizione accurata del lavoro svolto così come una discussione obiettiva del suo significato. I dati devono essere presentati in modo accurato nel manoscritto. Un manoscritto deve contente dettagli sufficienti e riferimenti bibliografici da permette ad altri di replicare il lavoro. Affermazioni fraudolente o intenzionalmente inaccurate costituiscono casi di comportamento non etico e inaccettabile.
Originalità e plagio
Gli autori devono assicurare di aver scritto un lavoro interamente originale; e, qualora gli autori abbiano usato il lavoro di altri, che esso sia citato in modo appropriato.
Un autore non deve pubblicare in generale manoscritti che descrivano la stessa identica ricerca in più di una rivista o pubblicazione primaria. Sottomettere lo stesso manoscritto a più di una rivista simultaneamente costituisce un comportamento non etico e inaccettabile.
Riconoscimento delle fonti
Devono sempre essere inseriti riferimenti appropriati ai lavori di altri autori. Gli autori devono citare le pubblicazioni che hanno influito nel determinare la natura del lavoro riportato nel manoscritto.
Ruolo di autori e co-autori
Il ruolo di autore o co-autore di un manoscritto deve essere attribuito esclusivamente a coloro che hanno apportato un contributo significativo all’ideazione, progettazione, esecuzione, o interpretazione dei risultati dello studio o dei contenuti concettuali presenti nel manoscritto. Tutti coloro che hanno apportato contributi significativi devono essere inseriti come co-autori. Nel caso in cui vi siano altre persone che hanno partecipato in altri aspetti sostanziali della ricerca, essi devono essere riconosciuti e indicati come contributori o ringraziati in una apposita nota.
L’autore responsabile della corrispondenza deve garantire che tutti i co-autori appropriati e nessun co-autore inappropriato siano inclusi tra i firmatari nel manoscritto, e che tutti i co-autori abbiamo visto e approvato la versione finale del manoscritto e concordato alla sua sottomissione per la pubblicazione.
Consenso informato e rispetto dei diritti umani e animali
Tutti gli autori di manoscritti in cui vengono descritte ricerche che hanno coinvolto soggetti umani o animali devono garantire che la ricerca sia stata svolta con il consenso dei partecipanti e con le autorizzazioni necessarie per svolgere ricerche con soggetti umani o animali.
Conflitti di interesse
Tutti gli autori devono dichiarare nel manoscritto i loro eventuali conflitti di interesse a livello finanziario o di altra natura che potrebbero aver influenzato i risultati o l’interpretazione del contenuto del manoscritto. Tutte le fonti di finanziamento o supporto al progetto di ricerca da cui è nato lo studio devono essere dichiarate in modo esplicito.
Errori fondamentali nei lavori pubblicati
Qualora un autore venisse a conoscenza di un errore significativo o di una inesattezza nei lavori che ha pubblicato sulla rivista, è Suo preciso dovere segnalare tale errore al Direttore o alla Redazione e cooperare con il Direttore e la Redazione per ritirare o correggere il manoscritto.
Diritti d’Autore
Gli autori garantiscono di avere la titolarità dei diritti sulle opere che sottopongono alla rivista The Future of Science and Ethics e garantiscono che tali opere siano inedite, liberamente disponibili e lecite, sollevando l’editore da ogni eventuale danno o spesa.
Gli autori mantengono i diritti d’autore sulle proprie opere e autorizzano l’editore a pubblicare, riprodurre, distribuire le opere con qualunque mezzo e in ogni parte del mondo e a comunicarli al pubblico attraverso reti telematiche, compresa la messa a disposizione del pubblico in maniera che ciascuno possa avervi accesso dal luogo e nel momento scelti individualmente, disponendo le utilizzazioni a tal fine preordinate.
Gli autori che intendano includere nelle loro opere testi, immagini, fotografie o altre opere già pubblicate altrove si assumono la responsabilità di ottenere le autorizzazioni dei relativi titolari dei diritti ove necessarie. Gli autori garantiscono che sulle opere non sussistano diritti di alcun genere appartenenti a terze parti.
Gli autori hanno diritto a riprodurre, distribuire, comunicare al pubblico, eseguire pubblicamente gli articoli pubblicati sulla rivista con ogni mezzo, per scopi non commerciali (ad esempio durante il corso di lezioni, presentazioni, seminari, o in siti web personali o istituzionali) e ad autorizzare terzi ad un uso non commerciale degli stessi, a condizione che gli autori siano riconosciuti come tali e la rivista The Future of Science and Ethics sia citata come fonte della prima pubblicazione dell’articolo.

Editorial Norms
The journal is a yearly publication.
For each issue, it is possible to submit:
– Articles on any of the topics that are relevant to the journal, or articles related to the call for papers;
– Commentaries on ethics or bioethics official documents of ethics that have been or are about to be published;
– Reviews of books published in the 12 months before the issue’s release.
The journal accepts contributions in Italian and English.

All texts must be unpublished and must not have been submitted to any other journals (multiple submissions and redundant publications are not allowed – see the section below on “Originality and plagiarism”).

Style Guide
Please use the following font: Times New Roman 12, double-spaced. Footnotes should be inserted at the bottom of the page and numbered with Arabic numbers (1, 2, 3…).
Titles should be short and precise to reps on different databases.
Section and sub-section titles should be numbered progressively using Arabic numerals. Bibliographical references should be included in the text (not in footnotes). Full references should be included in a section at the end of the text entitled “Bibliography”.
References
The journal’s reference system for bibliographic citations is the Chicago A style (notes-bibliography system). Each citation in the text, whether literal or paraphrased, must correspond to a note (at the end of the text), complete with any bibliographic reference. The final bibliography is omitted.

Quotations
Examples:
The authors of the quoted text must be mentioned in brackets followed by the year of publication of the text/volume (Surname, year). The latter must be included in the bibliography.
– Reference in brackets (Engelhardt, 1991; Aron et al., 2019)
– In-text Reference: Engelhardt (1991) and Aron et al. (2019)
Literal quotations must be highlighted by angle quotes («…»). Literal quotations are to be followed by a reference to the author in the following format: (Last name, year: page). The text from which the quotation is drawn must be included in the bibliography.
Quotations longer than three lines should be placed in block quote followed by a reference to the author using the format (Surname, year: page).
General style guidelines
To preserve stylistic coherence within each issue, we ask authors to:
(a) begin each item on a bullet point list with a lowercase letter and end it with a semicolon;
(b) not use quotation marks or italics for main titles or section titles;
(c) use double quotation marks for in-text references to titles (for example, Following the publication of his celebrated 1992 essay, “The end of history and the last man”, in which…)
(d) use single quotation marks, not italics, for emphasis (for example, ‘freedom’).
Figures and links
Any images, figures, or charts should be sent to the editors in JPG/JPEG or PDF format and must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
Any links present in the text must be working at the date of publication of the issue. For use in the bibliography, all longer URLs must be truncated using the https://bitly.com/ service.
Code of Ethics
The Future of Science and Ethics adopts the international research and publication ethics standards, including:
(a) the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines drawn up by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics);
(b) the Responsible research publication: international standards for editors, published on the occasion of the 2nd World Conference on Research Integrity in Singapore;
(c) The Guidelines for Research Integrity published by the Research Ethics and Integrity Committee of the Italian National Research Council
Duties and obligations of the journal’s governing bodies
Decisions regarding publication
The Director is responsible for decisions relating to the publication of manuscripts submitted to the journal.
The Director is responsible for decisions that regard any cases of defamation, violations of copyright, and plagiarism.
Equity
The Director, the Editor in Chief, the Editors, and the reviewers always evaluate manuscripts based on their intellectual content without bias in terms of race, gender, sexual orientation, faith, citizenship, or political views.
Confidentiality
The Director,the editor-in-chief, and the Editors are obliged to not disclose any information regarding the manuscripts that have been submitted to the journal to anyone except the corresponding author, the reviewers and potential reviewers, other individuals involved in the editing, and the publisher, if appropriate.
Conflicts of interest
Unpublished material contained in a manuscript that has been submitted to the journal cannot be used by the Director, the Head Editor, Editor or Reviewers for research purposes without the explicit consent of the author.
Statement on Open Access
The Future of Science and Ethics is an Open Access “gold road” journal. This means that all published content is available without restrictions or fees for the Authors or for users and institutions.
All published contributions are made available on a Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International license (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/), which allows users to read, download, print, cite and share the items without modifying them, for scientific purposes and in full respect of best research practice, on the condition that proper credit is given to the Authors and the Journal as original publisher.
The authors retain the copyright to the contribution and attribute to the journal the necessary rights for publication, which is simultaneously made available to the public on a Creative Commons CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license.
Access is open and immediate, starting on the publication date (no other embargo is applied) and no forms of access limitation to access is foreseen (no registration is required to access the material).
All of the above is in line with the definition of “open access” as stated by the DOAJ.
Duties and obligations of reviewers
Peer Review
The articles submitted to the journal undergo double-blind peer review. An exception is made for articles included in the section “Prospettive”, which are usually by invited contributions, as well as the sections “Documenti” and “Recensioni”, which are submitted for editorial review.
Files are anonymized and any references to the authors are deleted before being sent out to two anonymous reviewers. Reviewers are picked out amongst external experts specialized in the field under review, or, in some cases, amongst the members of the journal’s Scientific Committee. Generally, double-blind reviews are not assigned to members of the Managing Board or members of the Editorial Board.
The review process takes around four weeks from the date of receipt of the manuscript. If minor or major revisions are required, the text has to be amended by highlighting the edited parts, then re-submitted to the Editors within the requested timeframe, and accompanied by a brief response letter to the Reviewers. In case of vastly disparate assessments between reviewers, the board reserves the right to ask for a third opinion and therefore extend the review process by a further two weeks.
Qualifications and timeframe
If a reviewer does not think they are qualified to review the manuscript they have been assigned, or not able to finish the review within the timeframe requested or in any case within a reasonable timeframe, they must immediately notify the Editor in chief and therefore forgo their participation in the peer review process.
Confidentiality
Any manuscript received for peer review must be considered confidential; privileged information or ideas obtained through the process of peer review must not be used for personal gain. As such, the texts must not be shown to or discussed with others, except with the authorization of the Director or Editor in chief of the journal.
Transparency Standards
Reviews must be conducted in a transparent and unbiased way. Reviewers must clearly express their opinions and evaluations, with the support of appropriate argumentation, with the sole purpose of contributing to a scientific dialogue that aims to improve the submitted manuscript. It is forbidden to suggest the inclusion of published works by the Reviewers as a condition for publication. A review process guide is made available to Reviewers.
Originality and plagiarism
Reviewers must bring to the attention of the Director any substantial similarities or overlaps between the submitted manuscript and other published works they are aware of.
Conflicts of interest
A Reviewer must decline to read or provide an opinion on manuscripts for which there may be conflicts of interest resulting from their relationship with the authors, companies, institutions or other actors connected to the manuscripts.

Content
Authors of manuscripts that include original research must present an accurate account of the work developed as well as an objective discussion of its importance. Data must be presented accurately. A manuscript must contain enough detail and references to allow for replication. Fraudulent or intentionally inaccurate statements constitute unethical and therefore unacceptable behavior.
Originality and plagiarism
Authors must submit entirely original works; and, if they use work by others, they must make sure it is appropriately cited. An author must not, in general, publish manuscripts that describe the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously constitutes unethical and unacceptable behavior.
Citing sources
Appropriate references to other people’s work must always be present. Authors must cite the publications that have influenced the nature of the work presented in the manuscript.
Role of authors and co-authors
The roles of author and co-author of a manuscript must be attributed exclusively to those who have significantly contributed to the idea, planning, execution, or interpretation of research results or conceptual contents present in the manuscript. All those who have contributed significantly must be cited as co-authors. If other people have participated in the research, they must be acknowledged and cited as contributors or thanked in a note. The corresponding author must guarantee that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included in the authors’ list and that all co-authors have viewed and approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its submission for publication.
Informed consent and respect for human and animal rights
Authors of manuscripts that include research involving human or animal subjects must guarantee that the research was conducted with the consent of participants and the necessary authorization required for research including human or animal subjects.
Conflicts of interest
Authors must declare in their manuscript any conflicts of interest, be they financial or of a different nature, that may have influenced the results or interpretation of the manuscript contents. All funding sources and other forms of support to the research project from which the manuscript study resulted must be declared explicitly.
Fundamental errors in published works
Should an author become aware of a significant error or inaccuracy in the work they have published in the journal, they must flag this error to the Director or the Editorial Board and collaborate with them to retract or correct the manuscript.
Copyright and licensing
Authors must guarantee that the copyright of the work submitted to the journal The Future of the Science and Ethics belongs to them and that such work is previously unpublished, freely available, and lawful, releasing the publisher from any damages or costs.
Authors retain the copyright of the work and authorize the publisher to publish, reproduce, and distribute the work through any means and in any parts of the world and to communicate it to the public online, including making the work available in such a way that the public can access it from a place and at a time chosen by them, using procedures available to them for that purpose.
As specified in a dedicated section on Open Access, all contributions published in the Journal are made available to the public on a Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International license (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/). Authors who intend to include in their work text, images, photos or other work published elsewhere assume the responsibility of obtaining permission from copyright holders where necessary. Authors guarantee that these works are not under copyright of any kind belonging to third parties.
Authors have the right to reproduce, distribute, communicate to the public, and display publicly the articles published in the journal through any means, for non-commercial purposes (for example, in the context of teaching, presentations, seminars, personal or institutional websites) and authorize third parties to a non-commercial use of the articles, on condition that the authors are properly cited as such, and the journal The Future of Science and Ethics is cited as the source of the article’s original publication. Authors also have the right to submit a copy of the article (in its published form) to an institutional archive or to one chosen by the authors, without an embargo period.
Publication costs
The journal does not charge authors for the publication of articles or other contributions. Authors do not receive any compensation for the publication of articles or other contributions.
